After watching the Super Eagles crumbled 2-1 to the Cheetahs of Benin Republic, Toyin Abbass has called on Finidi George to do away with the foreign-based players, reports page3news.com.ng
Abbass, an ex-Super Stores FC ace defender now based in Australia, believes that players discovered from the domestic league could perform better if featured in the remaining qualifying matches.
“Now that we are more likely out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, we should do away with all the foreign based players and concentrate on a newly assembled crop of players from the local league to execute the remaining games of the qualifiers.
The team would invariably be saddled with the responsibility of taking us to the 2030 World Cup,” Toyin Abbass, who was a nightmare to strikers in his playing days, disclosed.
Abbass added that, “There should be a complete overhaul. We should only bring in foreign players if there are positions we are struggling with.”
