Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi today commended the monarchs of Anioma extraction, under the aegis of Delta North Traditional Rulers Forum, led by the Asagba of Asaba, Obi (Prof) Chike Edozien, for their firm stands on the Senatorial zoning for the successive occupants of Government House, in Asaba.
In his message, Senator Nwaoboshi, representing Delta North Senatorial District and Chairman Senate Committee On Niger-Delta Affairs, particularly appreciated the Asagba of Asaba, for his great leadership disposition and charisma among the Anioma Monarchs, and thanked the entire Delta North Royal Fathers for keeping the record straight with their fatherly roles towards the affairs of the state.
The Distinguished Senator, had earlier maintained a similar ground for Senatorial zoning of the Delta state Governor’s position, rather than switching to the ‘irrational and cumbersome ethnic’ zoning system, but was antagonised for speaking up in favor of truth and reality, by certain political ‘profiteers and power racketeers’, who have some ‘selfish skeletons’ in their cupboards.
The recent declaration by the Monarchs has exonerated the Senator and has testified to his unbiased, fair play, equitable, truthful, and dignified political disposition as a Leader and Statesman.
SPON, as he is fondly called, who was the protagonist in the cause for ‘Anioma Agenda’, which saw to the emergence of an Anioma son, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, as the incumbent Governor, stated that his firm belief in equity and fairness is unshakeable.
Hear him: “What is good for the goose is equally good for the gander. The implied understanding, as to which of the Senatorial Districts should produce the State Governor, one after the other, should be maintained and be sustained. With every sense of appreciation and satisfaction, I am overwhelmed with joy today that, my honest call for the maintenance of this modest and matured political custom, has been adequately corroborated by our Royal Fathers”.
Senator Nwaoboshi also urged the Monarchs to continue to speak out for the peace and unity of the state and encouraged other traditional rulers in the remaining districts of the state, to take precedent.
