Director General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency(NIMASA) Jamoh Bashir Yusuf has responded to the plight of people with disability association that picketed NIMASA office on the 6th of December 2021.
Jamoh while speaking with journalists on the matter said, although people have the right to protest but the people with disability association should have followed the due process in protesting.

Jamoh who said the people with disability have never been neglected for once in terms of employment, cited names of people that have been employed by NIMASA since he came on board as the Director General.
He further stated that it gladdened his heart to employ people who knows nobody than to employ people with connections.
The Director General also said people with disability have been employed to Information Technology department of the organisation and cited names of people that have benefited in the employment for journalists to follow up.
Jamoh said some of the people with disability that gained employment wrote a letter to the former Director General and the former director sent the report to him and things were done the proper way.
Jamoh Bashir again said people with disability can not and will not be discriminated against in terms of employment but should follow due process as NIMASA is a place that people with competence and qualifications are needed.
He said he already had a robust discussion with the president of people living with disability that protested in Abuja on the matter and they already reached a reasonable conclusion on the matter as he cited the names of people with disability that have already gained employment with NIMASA.
Speaking with the president of the association of people with disability, Saifullahi Muktar confirmed the statement of the Director General of NIMASA.
Saifullahi said the Director General has spoken with him and with the assurance that his members will be considered in the next employment hopefully in February 2022.
In his words, he said the Director General spoke with them in details on people he has employed and what he intend doing when the next opportunity comes up and they are ready to hold their peace pending the time of next employment.
NIMASA Director General finally assured journalists to follow up on the matter as people with disability are human like others and in as much as they are competent and qualified, they would be considered.
