A prominent car dealer in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara state, Aminu Baba and four other suspects were, on Tuesday, arraigned before a Chief Magistrate’s court for alleged killing, decapitating and eating body parts of a 9-year-old boy identified as Ahmad Yakubu Aliyu.
The accused persons were brought to the court amid tight security.
The magistrate, Sa’adu Gurbin Bore, read the charges against them and they all pleaded not guilty.
The judge however adjourned the case till February 8, 2022 for mentioning.
Earlier, the parents of the slain boy and other sympathisers had stormed the court, seeking for justice for their murdered son.
They said they were troubled by the killing and would never forgive the suspects.
The mother of the boy, who identified herself as Jamila Abdurrahman Hafiz, told Daily Trust that they were at the court to ensure that justice is swiftly served and that the blood of her innocent child was not spilled in vain.
The magistrate has ordered that three of the accused be remanded in Gusau Correctional Centre and the other two young ones among them, be taken to a remand home.
Page3news.com.ng reports that after Baba who is a prominent car dealer was arrested by the police, he confessed eating and selling human body parts to some unknown persons.
He was arrested in early January over the killing and dismemberment of a 9-year-old boy in Gusau.
The suspect told journalists shortly after he was paraded by the state police commissioner, Mr Ayuba N. Elkanah, that he has three wives and 19 children.
The accused told his shocked audience that he employed two teenagers to scout for young boys to kill for him and they had done that twice, getting N1 million in return.
