A student identified as Miss Jennifer Anthony of the University of Jos (UNIJOS), Plateau State, who went missing, has been found dead.

The lifeless body of Miss Anthony, who was a 300 level Special Education and Rehabilitation Sciences student of UNIJOS, with eyes gouged out; an indication that she may have been a victim of ritual killers.

Reports available indicated that she went missing on December 31, 2021, New Year’s Eve and all attempts to find her proved abortive until her body was recovered in a hotel in Jos with both eyes gouged out.

One Daniel Olugbenga Adediran had earlier appealed to the public for help in locating her whereabouts.

“We haven’t seen or heard from her for some days… Please if you have seen her somewhere from 31st December 2021 please let us know 08135892060 09069498376 300 level Student Special Education and Rehabilitation sciences @ university of Jos Her name is Jennifer Anthony,” he wrote.

The Police command in Jos public relations officer, Ubah Ogaba, an assistant superintendent of police, ASP while confirming her death on Thursday, said Mr Bartholomew Onyeka, the Police Commissioner in Plateau has met with hoteliers in Jos to fashion out ways of improving security of customers who patronise their facilities.

The lifeless body of the young lady was found at the hotel on January 1, with her eyes removed, the police confirmed in the statement.

“Upon receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police sent a team of detectives to the scene where photographs of the deceased were taken and the corpse was deposited at the morgue for autopsy” Uba Ogaba partly stated in the statement, as he called on the residents to avail any useful information that will lead to the arrest of those behind the death of the student to security agencies.

The police said last night that one suspect has been arrested in connection with the gruesome murder of the student.

According to reports, the student, a native of Akwanga Local Government in Nasarawa State, was last seen with her boyfriend, a suspected ‘Yahoo Boy’ now at large where they reportedly lodged at a Hotel along Zaria Road Jos.

Jennifer’s eyes were plugged off and other parts of her body mutilated, indicating she might have been murdered for ritual purposes.

It was gathered that the prime suspect was traced to Bida Bidi, Jos North where the mum owns a private school.

It was also learnt that the father of the suspect is a lecturer in the same institution where the deceased was schooling.
