The President of Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF and initiator of Mark D Ball Basketball Championship, Igoche Mark has promised more games aside the Mark D Ball Championship to improve the lot of the players in the domestic league.

Mark made the assertion this evening at the commencement of the Group B Men’s Championship at the Indoor Hall, Package B of Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

He said talks have reached the advanced stage with prominent stakeholders to attract more games to engage the players.

“Aside the Mark D Ball Championship, our players in the domestic league are going to see and play in many more games. Very shortly, we are going to roll out our loaded programmes. The young talents are playing their game, and that’s what they need to improve. It’s going to be all about basketball development at the grassroots.

“We are exploring avenues of getting the players involved in more and regular games, and this to ensure the improvement of the players in the domestic scene”, Igoche Mark said.

In one of the games played, the Civil Defenders fought a grim battle before edging hard fighting Plateau Peaks 67-65. Though the Civil Defenders took the lead in the first and second quarters, but slacked in the third as the Plateau Peaks players shot up 50-42.

In a dramatic turn, the determined Civil Defenders that was trailing five points behind in the last minute of the fourth quarter, got the winning two points to narrowly escape defeat.
