Even with the men’s doubles title he claimed, Wilson Igbinovia is crying foul that the poor officiating in his men’s singles semi final match against the top seed, Henry Atseye has denied him the ample chance of playing in the final of this year’s Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN Open Tennis Championship at the Tennis Complex, Package B of Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

The 18-year old junior sensation, said he was determined to subdue Atseye in their semi final game, but the line judge suddenly messed up.

“The bad call totally demoralised me. Yes, Henry Atseye is not unbeatable. I have beaten recently, and was determined to repeat same shock when the line judge made the very bad call. It was glaring that the ball far, far out, but the line judge made the bad decision, and I found it extremely hard to quickly overcome and I eventually lost hope in the match”, Wilson Igbinovia narrated in a chat afterwards.

With scintillating performance in the International Tennis Federation, ITF junior Circuit, Igbinovia is aiming to further his tennis career in the United States of America where he said, he would combine playing tennis with education.

He is ranked among the top 200 in the world in the ITF junior cadre.

“Plans are in the advanced stage to pursue my tennis career and education in the US. And I hope to be in Nigeria’s Davis Cup team soon.

“Apart from featuring in the Grand Slam tournaments, participating in the Davis Cup is the ultimate”, he said.
