A comical twist to the ongoing petrol scarcity in Nigeria came to light on Friday after attendees of a party were handed kegs of petrol as souvenirs and by that drawing comical reactions as to what many Nigerians would do in the name of Owambe.
Photos and videos shared online showed how guests at the Erelu Okin Foundation Installation party which held on Friday were being handed the kegs of petrol.
Reports have it that petrol has become a scarce commodity in Nigeria with many people cutting down on their movements and some putting such frivolities as party going on suspense.
Among those present at the Erelu Okin Foundation Installation party was Fuji artist, Malaika. The music star was said to have expressed his surprise at the unusual souvenir that was passed round at the occasion.
A guest at the party told social media users that the content of the keg was not groundnut oil, as many assumed, rather it is petrol.
However, many twitter users were surprised over the fact that the petrol was handed out in 10 litre kegs which were half full. Some wondered why it was not given in 5 litre kegs.
There were some others who also said that it was a dangerous affair as it could have sparked fire and that they would have immediately left the scene.
Others said the development was another comic twist to Nigeria.
