An alleged Bitcoin scammer, Precious Ofure Omonkhoa is currently chatting with the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC over alleged bitcoin investment scam.

The suspect was alleged to have laundered his funds through the Cubana group owned by socialite, Obinna Iyiegbu aka Obi Cubana.

Page3news.com.ng reports that Obi Cubana was recently arrested and detained by the anti-graft agency for four days on alleged financial crimes.

It could not, however, be immediately confirmed if the unfolding case against Precious Omonkhoa was among the issues brought before the billionaire socialite while he was in detention.

A statement made available to Page3news.com.ng indicated that Omonkhoa was arrested on November 8, 2021 in Ikoyi, Lagos, following credible intelligence received by the Commission about his illegal activities.

He was alleged to have posed as Moshem Cnich, a Swedish national, to defraud unsuspecting victims of their hard-earned money by claiming that he runs a bitcoin scheme, where people invest money to make huge returns.

Preliminary investigation also revealed that the suspect engaged in a dating scam and had defrauded two victims in Canada.

The suspect was said to have confessed to EFCC operatives to have laundered the proceeds of his fraudulent activities by purchasing a piece of land worth $150,000USD (One Hundred and Fifty Thousand United States Dollars) through bitcoin from CASA-Cubana, a project being run by the Cubana Group owned by Obi Cubana.

Upon his arrest, the sum of $50,000USD was found in his bitcoin wallet.

The suspect, according to the EFCC, will soon be charged to court.
